I was thrilled to be given a voice in her latest novel; quite democratic, even though I’m just an Uber driver, and fictional at that. But the thrill didn’t last. I was there in one sentence, pointing out that she hadn’t given me a tip. I actually said more than that, rather bluntly; but that part didn’t make it into the novel.
