[“the imagination of disaster” – Henry James]
1. I’ve imagined disaster so many times it might as well have happened.
2. I’ve imagined a disaster I survived. But if I survive, it won’t have been a disaster.
3. Oceans boiling, mountains overthrown, like a second coming. We’re waiting with desperate offerings in our hands. But the things that appear are not interested in – offerings.
4. Those who blamed the meteorite should look in a mirror.
5. Those who blamed themselves are rescuing what they can from the awful thing that paid them no attention, that didn’t even know there was something alive – on our planet.
6. As if it mattered.
