One uncommonly bright flea discovered that the object of their worship, the dog, had its own religion, worshipping its master.
Should we then, the flea asked, worship master directly, not second-hand via the family dog?
But this suggestion was rejected by the congregation of fleas, who called the proposal “Protestant,” and banished the bright flea from the top of the dog’s head, to dwell forever in its nether parts.
