“The Fun House” / Memorable Fancies #3558

[“a wilderness of mirrors” – T.S. Eliot]

In the fun house of mirrors we see strange, grotesque versions of ourselves, dozens of different me’s, some short, some tall, some sticking their tongues out, some complaining that they should be as real as we are, that we are their own distorted reflections, their jesters.

The more threatening mirrors, when discovered, are taken out of service and smashed.

But each fragment now recalls the whole, refers to the other shards as fakes, they themselves the only true reality – no longer a mere reflection, long since left behind that primitive phase.
