       Here is the touch of the sculptor from so many centuries ago: where he rested his iron tools, where he stood and looked up with pleasure at what he’d made, perhaps noticed a few flaws, thought he ought to fix them – but too late.

       Besides, it was the Archon’s nose that tilted that way, not his own clumsy hands.
