[“Could we then also imagine that humanity is a disease for some superior organism that we are unable to comprehend as a whole?” – Jean Baudrillard]
A disease has been caught, like a cold, by the universe. The source of infection has been traced to one small planet near the edge of a typical middling galaxy.
Although few are worried, authorities tell us that even there the infection must be wiped out before it has a chance to spread, as the local organisms have developed space travel, against the gods’ commands.
Other systems have been warned not to respond to any transmissions from the suspect system, or indicate in any way that they host life; for surely, the disease will attempt to go there, to spread its … plague, its … ideas.
