I feast on your orders: I make up tunes, a different tune for each order, and I sing them loud. Although it does take time, your orders not having suitable rhythm for song, nor elevated thought, nor reflections of how we live; we who must listen to your orders must gussy them up with melody, make it possible for us to sing while we work, while we do what the songs tell us to do, in spite of their imperatives, their moral horror; we sing….
