AGENT Agent agent …

from the New York Review, issue dated March 21, 2019, page 63:

“I’m an experienced, published author who’ll pay a capable free-lance editor to place a book-length non-fiction ms. with a solid literary agent. If interested,…”

In the beginning there were publishers. And then agents. And now agent-agents.

But one step more:

If the writer who placed this ad is successful, I think I’ll write him asking him to be my agent-agent-agent to place my novel with an agent-agent to place my novel with an agent who might find a publisher.

Or maybe the publisher has his own publisher, and so we would have an agent-agent-agent selling to a publisher-publisher.

Or something like like that that.
