They came in the night, those things with no names. We whispered among ourselves what we might call them, and one of us said “Nothing. Call them nothing, for that’s what they do with us, they make us nothing.” And a second said, “Nothing is then their name, their names who are nothing because they have no name.”

But they knew OUR names.
