“The Accused – I” / Memorable Fancies #2100

[“Deafened, … with aching and echoing head, with the feeling of having had to do with ten thousand accusers…” – Henri Michaux]

The accused in the empty arena – the question echoing – deafening sounds, the words intertwined “Did you on the night of February …”; “How do you plead?”; “Knife wounds consistent with a high degree of passion…”

He covers his ears with his hands, but his palm-flesh is another sounding membrane drumming  “GUILTY … GUILTY!” into his head.
