“The Mirror-Maker – I” / Memorable Fancies #2098

James has invented a special mirror, one that knows him, his moods, his habits, how he likes to see himself. Sometimes the mirror shows him taller, or handsomer, or with less hair loss, or standing up straight just like his mother always told him.

But the invention is not yet perfected: sometimes it shows him cringing, as he did when his half-brother held up a stone and gestured at him, calling him names.

Fortunately, James has not yet given the mirror a voice.
