OK, I try to tell the truth, but … even as I say it, I know that I can never tell the truth – for how can I really know what occurs? – or the whole truth – for that would take forever – or nothing but the truth, for once I have uttered the truth I am then condemned to be silent, in spite of my lies shoving, jostling to be not just uttered but declaimed, shouted out to all those others who are waiting, eagerly or appalled, for my words.
