[“the murmur of names” – J.H. Prynne]

I wait for my name to be called, but the angels are not reading them in alphabetical order, and they speak so fast and so quietly, and in their angelish accent as well, that my name might have been called already but I didn’t hear it, the name that would assure me of a place here with them forever, and now perhaps I’ve lost the chance because I haven’t answered quickly enough.

They must have known I’d never wanted to be here in Heaven among these birds of pray, anyway.
