“Papered Over” / Memorable Fancies #1873

I didn’t believe anything I read in yesterday’s The Washington Post so I bought a second copy of the same day’s edition. The two copies agreed with each other word for word, and so there seemed to be some plausibility in what they had published.

And then I went to the wise men. They all agreed with The Washington Post too, mouthed the same easy and expected opinions, the cool and painfully responsible thoughts.

Their occasional disagreements with the paper were just froth on the adverbs.
