Why do I assume that the others I see are human, too, like me? After all, I can’t look out of their eyes as I can from my own. I can’t feel their emotions as I can my own.
I can hit myself, or I lacerate my own skin perhaps with some iron tool or a broken piece of glass, and feel pain.
But this does not seem to work with the others. When I cut into them, I don’t feel any pain at all.
