How is it possible to disagree with something you’ve heard or read and then quote? Saying something, in order to disagree with it, makes that assertion – yours.

More deeply, the supposed disagreement must make the same unspoken assumptions as the original, or your disagreement would miss the mark – you’re speaking inside your opponent’s universe of discourse, willy nilly.    <END>
