The story itself, the meme, is sentient and purposeful. It can be tracked like a virus as it infects more people – and as it encounters other memes. Sometimes they merge. Or they compete, they fight, using us as their armed surrogates, their conscript warriors. Death to those whose thoughts are other than ours! They must be freed of their delusions, their memes. That is the only final way to keep such ideas from spreading.
