The wall was built by the Dutiful Republic for our safety, they tell us; for our welfare. It is called “Wall of Memories,” because we come to the wall each morning and throw – are required to throw – yesterday’s memories over it. Our memories, the Republic tells us, are false. They must be discarded. They distract and enrage us.
